Mile End Climbing Wall
Branding | Campaigns | Community
The UK's first and oldest dedicated climbing centre needed to update its brand identity to meet the challenges of a modernising and expanding industry. As a charity with a focus on climbing-related youth projects, education and accessibility, the design and branding had previously been given very little dedicated resource. However, with the explosion of climbing centres across the city, it became imperative to bring consistency, recognisability and clarity across all platforms and materials.
Following a brand audit, I identified the key elements to retain, such as the logo, colour palette and typeface. From this I was able to take the identity in a new direction – one that felt at home in the digital world – but retained strong links to the wall's heritage. I created new templates that could be quickly rolled out across the physical site, website and especially social media.
